Friends

When you get an agent or editor should you tell them about a friend’s work? As J.A. Konrath says, ‘writers should help other writers.’ I totally agree with this. I did this for a friend that feels like a sister to me. I believe in her work and if I can help someone so dear to me than I’m happy too. Would every writer do this for another writer they believed in? I don’t know but it would be nice if they did.

I talked to my agent today. She is such a great woman and she has some changes that she wanted me to make and I think that it will make my book better. I value her input more than anything. I may not be around very much because I intend to be finished with Storm of Magick in six weeks. It will be a tight schedule but I want it done.

Agent Says

It has been a busy week. I have had several conversations with my agent. She loves my ideas and where the series is going. I totally enjoy talking with her. Now Tor wants to read it. I am so excited how things are developing.

On the writing front. I have forgotten how much I love Logan and the others and how I enjoyed working on the series. So many changes in book 2 from the rework that I had done so I decided to combine the old and the newer ideas to make what it has now become. It is a much better book for all the work that I have put into it over the last couple of days.

I will be talking to my agent next week so we will see what the good news is with the publishing houses.

My good news!!!

I have just joined the ranks. I have an agent and Realm of Relics is sitting on the desk of the editor-in-chief at Del Rey. Can you believe this, all in four days. I have spoken with my agent (how funny does that sound) over the phone. She is very excited and love Logan as much as I do.

Now I have to resume working on Storm of Magick and finish YA novel. She wants to see as much as she can of what I have to offer. I am so on cloud nine, I never thought that everything would happen so quickly.

Feeling old and good news

Okay, I’ve decided that I really need new glasses. I’m having a very hard time reading Danse Macabre by LKH. ‘I still like the earlier stuff better!) Apparently, my arms are no longer long enough for me to see the small font.

I’m working on Family Legacy and with the help of my CP and Erica, which by the way pointed out a couple of things to me. I’ve had to make a couple of minor changes but the book is all the better for it.

I received some interesting and good news today but I can’t share yet, I don’t want to jinx myself. It’s about Realm of Relics. I hope I find out soon so I can share the good news.

Critique Partners

My critiquing partner I’ve known for a long time but just recently, we officially became partners. She is a wonderful partner and adds to my creativity. At first, we would read each other’s works and comment then she did the best edit of my novel for an agent. But, what else does a critique partner do?

She listens to me when I have a problem other then writing. She has encouraged me to keep going and never give up. She was there when I was having problems with a few people that I don’t mention anymore. We think a lot alike but there are enough differences that we compliment each other.

We have supported each other during moves, publishing short stories and we are friends. I feel privileged to work with her or even know her for that matter. She will be a best selling author someday soon.

What do you think about the critiquing partner subject?
