Emotions

When my life is a mess, I’ve found that it spills over into my writing. It like clogs my creative process and I have to make the story come. I don’t like when I have to do this, because I know that it’s not my best writing. I’ve been having a hard time as it is, on account of the book that I’m working on hasn’t become second nature yet. The story or the characters are not very familiar to me; I’m still getting to know them.

Well when life is good, I can write forever but depression and anger seems to stifle my thoughts. Do any of you ever have this happen? If so what do you do to get things moving again? My writing group suggests writing a short story about it and I have.

Yep. Happens all the time. Magic, majick, magick...however you want to spell it.

Hi Meleta,

I spell it magick. Do you use spells for depression?

Julie, I think I may try writing my problem down then burning it. I am a huge candle burner, I have one candle that smells like lilacs, which is my favorite. Thanks for the suggestions.

When I was at my lowest, about two years ago now, thanks to a combination of depression, glandular fever and a bad break-up with a bad boyfriend, I found it helped to write about what was upsetting me. I turned it into a story and worked some of it out that way.

Lavender oil and chocolate also helps.

I'm with Phoenix. I write down my troubles and burn them. It works wonders. Plus, I love to burn stuff. I guess that makes me a closet pyro.
Candles are great and I use them a lot, but there's just something so satisfying about holding a piece of paper in my hand and lighting the edge. I watch it turn orange and crispy black, then drop it into something fireproof.
Yee ha!

Wow I didn't know that fire can be so clensing for everyone. I'm definitly giving it a try.

Lisa,
Thanks for adding me to your blog list. I added yours to mine.

Set any fires yet? Oops! Sorry, my pyro is showing.

Let me know how it works for you.

Hi there fellow Buckeye!

Depression effects my writing too. So does my physical health. If I feel poorly, I write poorly. Sometimes a walk outdoors helps. Sometimes a trip to the nearest bookstore or library does too.

Btw, I'm a Nutter from Pendle Hill descent.
